The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the performing arts, which we now know to be Maureen O'Hara, would certainly qualify her to the "child prodigy" category. However, for an Irish girl who was surrounded by gifted parents and extended family, these qualities were natural. Maureen was born in this cosy refuge on the 17th of August 1920. She was raised by her parents as well as family members. Marguerita L. FitzSimons was a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland. He also owned a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons is the second daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out the wonderful family. Maureen was a fan of rough sports as a kid and was very adept at them. Furthermore her talent, she also had a knack for acting. That was apparent when she was awarded every Feis for drama and theater that Ireland had to offer. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14 She then continued to pursue her dream of opera as well as classical theatre and singing.
